Is Salman Khan ailing? As actor’s age begins to show on his face, fans ask, “Is Salman Khan sick?”

MUMBAI: For more than three decades, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has been celebrated for his youthful energy, athletic physique and seemingly ageless screen presence that has kept his fans, both male and female mesmerized.

Fans have often remarked that the actor appeared to be ageing in reverse or at least was not ageing. However, a recent public appearance in Mumbai has sparked a wave of concern among fans and admirers, with many commenting that the 60-year-old actor looked noticeably older, ill and visibly tired and was a much different Salman of a few year ago.

Videos from the event have been widely circulated on social media, where users have been discussing the actor’s appearance. While Salman continued to greet people warmly and interact with beneficiaries, several viewers felt that he appeared unusually exhausted, looking  very tired, leading to speculation about his health and well-being. Some even asked if Salman Khan was ill?

Public appearance draws attention

According to reports, Salman Khan attended the inauguration of the Data Collection and Verification Support Centre (IT Server Room) of the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) in Mumbai. During the programme, he distributed keys to beneficiaries and posed for photographs.

What caught the attention of many, however, was not the ceremony itself but the actor’s appearance. Social media users commented that Salman looked disheveled, fatigued and as though he had been under considerable stress or was not keeping well. Some felt that the change was particularly striking because his look and posture at public events had remained relatively consistent over the past few years.

Some cynics remarked that since it was a public event (read government event) and was possibly not paid for, Salman Khan did not get his “image management team”, read his make up, hair dresser and stylist who normally doll up the actor before any public appearance.

One user wrote on social media, “He looks unwell. God bless him.” Another commented, “My hero is getting old.” Several others asked what might have happened to the actor, while some expressed sadness at seeing one of Bollywood’s biggest stars showing clear signs of ageing.

An image management and PR expert commented that Salman Khan should not make public appearances without his makeup and hair team.

At the same time, many fans responded with messages of support, pointing out that ageing is a natural process. “Everyone gets old, and we still love you, Bhai,” read one comment that echoed the sentiment of numerous supporters.

Physically demanding film schedule

Salman Khan is currently preparing for Mathrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, a period war drama directed by Apoorva Lakhia. The film required extensive shooting in the challenging terrain of Leh and Ladakh, and the actor has previously acknowledged that the project has been physically exhausting.

In an earlier interview, Salman admitted that action-oriented roles now demand significantly more preparation than they did in his younger years. He explained that activities such as running, intense workouts, kicking and punching sequences require greater effort and recovery time.

“The work is physically demanding every day and every hour. Earlier, I could complete this kind of preparation in a week or two, but now it takes much longer,” Salman Khan had said while discussing the film.

He also noted that the action requirements of Mathrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace are very different from those of his previous project Sikandar, requiring a different level of training and endurance.

Speculation and concern

The viral videos and images have inevitably led to speculation. Some social media users wondered whether the actor’s appearance could simply be the result of fatigue from a demanding shooting schedule, while others questioned whether there might be an underlying health issue or was he resting well.

A few commentators and media persons even suggested that the discussion surrounding his appearance could be part of a larger media narrative intended to generate public attention and sympathy. However, there is no official statement from Salman Khan or his representatives indicating any health problem, and no confirmed information has emerged to support such claims.

One film journalist joked that Salman’s extremely disheveled and unwell look could be part of a media exercise – is Salman trying to gain public sympathy, asked one fan on social media? We do not know the truth, but we definitely wish Bhaijaan all the best and a long, healthy life ahead!

Fans wish the superstar well

Despite the speculation and concern, the overwhelming response from fans has been one of love and affection. Salman Khan remains one of India’s most popular actors, with a career spanning more than 30 years and a massive dedicated fan following across the country and abroad.

For many admirers, the recent images were a reminder that even the biggest stars or celebrities are not immune to the passage of time. While debates continue online about whether the actor was merely tired or experiencing the strain of an intense work schedule, or was keeping unwell, supporters have largely focused on sending him good wishes.

As Salman prepares for the release of Mathrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace, fans are hoping that the actor remains healthy and continues entertaining audiences for many years to come. God bless you bhai, was the overall refrain.
