K.C. Bokadia’s Teesri Begum All Set for OTT Premiere

MUMBAI: Veteran filmmaker K.C. Bokadia is bringing his socially driven drama Teesri Begum to a wider audience with its digital premiere on WAVES OTT on July 18, 2026. The film arrives on the streaming platform after enjoying a successful theatrical run, where it received encouraging feedback from audiences for its emotional storytelling and socially relevant theme.

Widely regarded as one of Bollywood’s most experienced filmmakers, Bokadia has delivered several memorable hits over the decades, including Teri Meherbaniyan, Pyar Jhukta Nahin, Naseeb Apna Apna, Aaj Ka Arjun, and Phool Bane Angaray. With Teesri Begum, the filmmaker once again explores a subject rooted in contemporary social realities, focusing on women’s dignity, empowerment, and self-respect.

The film features an ensemble cast led by Zarina Wahab, Mugdha Godse, and Kainaat Arora, and seeks to spark conversations about the challenges faced by women in complex personal and social circumstances.

Sharing the inspiration behind the project, Bokadia revealed that the story originated from a real-life encounter that left a lasting impression on him. According to the filmmaker, he once attended a social gathering where a man introduced him to his first, second, and third wives, each belonging to different communities. While the situation itself surprised him, what remained with him was the quiet discomfort and emotional pain he sensed in the third wife.

“That moment stayed with me for a long time,” Bokadia recalled. “It made me think deeply about the emotional realities behind such relationships and ultimately inspired me to tell this story.”

Throughout a career spanning several decades, Bokadia has worked with many of Indian cinema’s biggest stars, including Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Hema Malini, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Madhuri Dixit, Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgn, and Priyanka Chopra.

The filmmaker believes Teesri Begum goes beyond entertainment by reflecting issues that continue to exist in society. He hopes the film’s arrival on OTT will introduce its message to a much larger audience and encourage meaningful discussions about women’s rights, equality, and personal dignity.

Bokadia also has an active slate of upcoming projects. His much-anticipated sequel, Teri Meherbaniyan 2, is scheduled to hit theatres in August 2026, while his television venture Sanskar is also expected to premiere in the near future.

With its blend of emotional drama and social commentary, Teesri Begum is expected to find a fresh audience when it begins streaming on WAVES OTT from July 18, 2026, giving viewers another opportunity to experience one of K.C. Bokadia’s latest socially conscious works.
