LUCKNOW: Lucknow-based model and law student Shalini Apsara Singh has been selected as a state finalist for the upcoming Miss Uttar Pradesh-Asia Universe pageant. The grand finale of the pageant is scheduled to take place in Goa in November 2026, where finalists from across Uttar Pradesh are expected to compete for the coveted title. The event is part of the several events planned around the Uttar Pradesh Fashion Week project.
Shalini earned her place in the state-level selection process following auditions and several rounds of judging. More than 200 participants from different parts of Uttar Pradesh took part in the regional selection process, making the competition an important platform for aspiring models and pageant contestants from the state.
At 29, Shalini brings to the competition a diverse combination of experience in modelling, sports, performing arts and academics. She has been associated with the modelling industry for the past few years and has gradually established herself as a familiar face on the Lucknow ramp circuit.
Her journey, however, extends well beyond fashion and modelling. Shalini is a national record holder in Table Tennis championships and has also represented Uttar Pradesh as a state-level Badminton player. Her sporting background has helped her develop qualities such as discipline, focus, perseverance and competitive spirit — attributes that could prove valuable as she prepares for the Miss Uttar Pradesh-Asia Universe finale.
Alongside her modelling and sporting interests, Shalini is currently pursuing a degree in law and interning with a law firm. Her decision to balance academics with modelling reflects her interest in developing a career that combines different areas of professional and creative expression.
Shalini is also trained in Kathak, one of India’s most celebrated classical dance traditions. Her training in dance has given her experience in stage performance, rhythm and presentation, skills that are particularly relevant to the world of pageantry. In addition to Kathak, she is currently taking lessons in Indian classical music, further expanding her involvement in India’s traditional performing arts.
The Miss Uttar Pradesh-Asia Universe pageant is expected to provide contestants with an opportunity to showcase not only their appearance and fashion sense but also their confidence, communication skills, talent and overall personality. For Shalini, the selection marks another significant step in her modelling and pageant journey.
With the Goa finale scheduled for November, Shalini is now expected to focus on preparations for the competition, including her ramp walk, presentation, fitness and overall stage performance. Her background in sports and classical arts, combined with her experience as a model and her ongoing legal education, gives her a distinctive profile among the contestants.
As anticipation builds around the international-level pageant, Shalini Apsara Singh’s selection has added another promising name from Lucknow to the Uttar Pradesh fashion and pageantry circuit. Her journey from competitive sports and classical arts to modelling and law is likely to remain one of the interesting stories to follow as the contestants head towards the November finale in Goa.
